LOCAL INFORMATION

Eastern Scotland

Aberdeen is Scotland's third largest city and with its granite buildings has one of Scotland's most captivating skylines.  In the west of this region lie the Grampian Mountains, with Royal Deeside’s Balmoral Castle and the city of Perth to the south. VisitScotland offers a ‘Castle Trail’ to follow, taking in 11 of the finest castles from the region. Angus and Dundee have coastal towns like Arbroath and Carnoustie to enjoy, while The Kingdom of Fife is where the home of golf - St Andrews – is found. Perthshire offers wonderful walks, like that at Birks of Aberfeldy or Weem and Drummond Hill, and the hills of Breadalbane.

It is easy to retrace the footsteps of some of Scotland's best-known names in this region like William Wallace or Rob Roy MacGregor.  Visit places like Bannockburn, Stirling Castle, the National Wallace Monument, Callander and the Rob Roy & Trossachs Visitor Centre.
