LOCAL INFORMATION

North East England

The best preserved sections of Hadrian's Wall can be found within the The Northumberland National Park between Gilsland and Chollerford. Why not walk a part of the Hadrian's Wall Path National Trail - a coast to coast footpath that begins in Newcastle and ends on the Solway Firth.

The northern section of the Northumberland National Park is dominated by the Cheviot Hills. Kielder Water is the largest man-made lake in Western Europe and is set in the country's largest man-made forest.

This stunning region also has a picturesque coast where you will find Alnwick Garden - Northumberland's most visited tourist attraction – which is adjacent to Alnwick Castle. The castle has been used as the setting for scenes in the first two Harry Potter films.

Visit the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, the bird and seal colonies on the Farne Islands, Bamburgh and its magnificent castle or the most northern town in England - Berwick-upon-Tweed.
