LOCAL INFORMATION

East of England

The Norfolk Broads are 125 miles of navigable waterways; the UK’s largest nationally protected wetland, and an important area for wildlife. If you feel like exploring, there are small boats to hire or riverside paths to cycle along. There are nature reserves to visit and pretty villages to explore. Norfolk has award-winning seaside resorts Cromer, Sheringham, Hunstanton and Wells, with traditional sandy beaches, safe shallow water and masses of amusements.

Norwich is Britain’s most complete medieval city - with fascinating museums, a magnificent cathedral, a Norman castle, cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and the Coleman’s Mustard Shop too

Visit Suffolk for a totally relaxing holiday or short break. While here, take a walk along Lowestoft seafront, gaze up at Southwold Lighthouse; visit the Norman castles at Orford and Framlingham and discover Sutton-Hoo - of Britain's most important and atmospheric archaeological sites - the burial ground of the Anglo-Saxon kings of East Anglia. Away from the coast, the picturesque market towns of Stowmarket and Sudbury (the birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough) are worth your time too.
